Job description

PPRUK are looking for a part time optometrist for one of the oldest independent practices in Derby. The aim has been to create a warm and welcoming environment within the clinically furnished surroundings. In a market dominated by larger optical groups here is a practice dedicated to providing patients with a reassuring, individual and professional service

The staff are committed to providing advice on quality, value and service. Professional guidance is provided on eye-care, glasses and contact lenses. Emphasis is always placed on a personal service, correctly fitted frames and accurately dispensed lenses and contact lenses

They have new equipment and systems, trained staff and a fresh look. The appointment of a new optometrist, with the appropriate skills and qualities, is an important one and a vital step in the continued growth of the business.  The person appointed will be a key member of the team providing the professional expertise required to give an excellent service to patients.

Position: Optometrist

Location: Derby

Salary: £36,000

Contract: Permanent  

Hours:  2-week days and every Saturday


Person Specification


· We are looking for the following qualities and level of experience.

· A qualified optometrist with current GOC registration

· Demonstrates high standards of professionalism and integrity

· As a leading professional, provide advice and guidance to staff and patients as necessary

· A reflective practitioner who continually looks to improve the quality and diversity of the service offered to the patient

· Clinical and technical excellence with a thorough and up to date knowledge of eye health

· Warm and approachable manner with the ability to make patients feel valued, comfortable and at ease

· An understanding of the needs of the practice as a business, with an ability to advise and guide patients in purchasing appropriate products

· An enthusiasm in working as part of a team to develop the practice further, contributing ideas to improve our service and profitability

· Willingness to work flexibly

· Keen to learn new skills

· Good administrative and record keeping skills, including use of computer software

· Able to maintain a high standard of hygiene & a tidy working environment
