Job description

PPRUK are looking for an optometrist with the option of 3 to 5 days on behalf of a family run independent, who pride themselves on providing a personal service, where everyone is respected and valued.

They have two established practice’s which have new equipment and systems, trained staff and a fresh look. The appointment of an additional optometrist, with the appropriate skills and qualities, is an important one and a vital step in the continued growth of the business.  The person appointed will be a key member of the team providing the professional and clinical expertise required to give an excellent service to patients.  Working as a key member of a small team consisting of a DO Manager, four optical assistants and a Business Manager

Position: Optometrist

Location: 2 branches in the Nottingham area

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 (pro rata for part-time) dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent  

Hours:  Currently 9:00am to 5:00pm - Option of 3 to 5 days


Person Specification:


We are looking for the following qualities and level of experience.


· A qualified optometrist with current GOC registration

· Demonstrates high standards of professionalism and integrity

· As a leading professional, provide advice and guidance to staff and patients as necessary

· A reflective practitioner who continually looks to improve the quality and diversity of the service offered to the patient

· Clinical and technical excellence with a thorough and up to date knowledge of eye health

· Warm and approachable manner with the ability to make patients feel valued, comfortable and at ease

· An understanding of the needs of the practice as a business, with an ability to advise and guide patients in purchasing appropriate products

· An enthusiasm in working as part of a team to develop the practice further, contributing ideas to improve our service and profitability

· Willingness to work flexibly

· Keen to learn new skills

· Good administrative and record keeping skills, including use of computer software

· Able to maintain a high standard of hygiene & a tidy working environment
